Under low loads, the block spins freely in both directions for minimal friction and efficient trimming. As load increases beyond the higher engagement threshold, the ratchet engages automatically, delivering 10:1 holding power. This makes it ideal for spinnaker and mainsheet systems where clean, fast line release is essential, particularly during gybes.
